Principal Welcome

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff of St. Joseph School, welcome and welcome back St. Joe’s families, with a special welcome to our new families!  I am very honored to introduce myself as your new principal.
As I begin my first year at SJS, I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead this outstanding school.  I have only been on the job for a few weeks, thus far; however, that has been more than enough time for me to gain a true perspective of the school.  I have sat down with nearly every faculty and staff member this summer, taking the opportunity to get to know everyone a little bit before we hit the ground running next month.  What I have consistently observed is a remarkable commitment, dedication and love for this school and our students.  I am proud to be a part of this wonderful community.
We have been hard at work this summer, preparing for the upcoming school year.  The 2018-2019 school calendar is complete, and although
it is quite comprehensive, please know that it is subject to change. Here are some dates that you will want to circle on the calendar:
8/23 – 6:00-7:00pm – Bridge/Kindergarten Orientation (parents and students)
8/27 – 5:00-6:00pm – Meet and Greet New Principal and Ice Cream Social (parents and students)
8/29 – First Day of School Grades K-8 (Full Day)
8/29 – Parent Coffee Hour in Cafeteria – 8:00am (includes volunteer sign-up for 2018-2019 school events)
8/29 – Extended Day Program (EDP) begins
8/30 – Second Full Day of School K-8 (Full Day)
8/30 – 5:00-7:00pm – Preschool Meet and Greet (parents and students)
8/31 – No School
9/3 – No School (Labor Day)
9/4 – Pre-Kl Begins (3 year-old program) – 7:50 am-2:15pm
9/5 – Pre-K2 Begins (4 year-old program) – 7:50 am-2:15pm
9/7 – Back to School Family Mass – 8:30am
9/13 – Back to School Parent Night – 6:00-7:30pm
The bell schedule will be a little different this year.  Students can still be dropped off for “Early Drop-Off” at 7:00am (please call the preschool
[781-395-7780] at least one day in advance).  Otherwise, regular drop-off begins at 7:30am.  The “warning bell” will ring at 7:45am, and the “late bell” will ring at 7:50am – any students arriving to their homeroom after 7:50am will be marked tardy {please stay tuned for a more comprehensive attendance/tardy policy letter coming your way next month}.  The 8:00am bell signifies the start of our academic day.
Please know that the entire staff and faculty will strive each and every day to provide your child with a loving, nurturing, safe environment, while delivering a rigorous, 21st century education.  Our  goal is to support and empower all of our students as they strive to reach their full potential as young men and women of promise, intelligence, and goodness.
Thank you for letting us be your Catholic school.
In His Name,
Tim Forti
